Diversity in the United States Essay Diversity in the United States Introduction            Diversity is the concept of acceptance and respect upon every individual in relations to sexual category, ethnic and sexual coordination, and stage of development, bodily abilities and political beliefs. In United States there is synthesis of world’s abundant and varied religions, cultures and ethnic groups since it is a home to everybody and there is no group which can call itself the most American than the other. However, the merging of cultures here is so irreplaceable and so outstanding that citizens can be just as pleased and proud of their main cultural legacy as they are to be an American after all. The diversity in United States assemblage takes a moral look at what it means to be an American and scrutinizes the rich legacies that encompasses the entire nation. Any culture provides its specific and incomparable contribution to the current understanding in America and to the world generally. The issue of diversity in America not only provides a multitude of friendly portraits of heritage and culture, but records the fights of nationalities to incorporate into the sentimental society of America, and highlights the power and honesty of several cultural influential and socialites (Naylor, 1999, Naylor, 1997).            According to the current state of immigration in United States, diversity has however reached nearly every state in America. William Ferry, a demographer has stated that â€Å"This is just a strange explosion of diversity all across the United States†and thinks that diversity and immigration are going hand in hand. Due to the high of immigration, the current statistics indicate that Education ranks increased in every state from 2000 to 2010. Generally, the part of adults with 25 years and older with at least a high school diploma or certificate raised from 80 percent to 90 percent. Those adults with at least a bachelor’s degree from any university or college raised from 40 percent to 55 percent. This change could even rise higher in the coming years as far as there are available jobs and the growth of economy still continue growing in order to hold the population. Furthermore, there are all categories of construction, food p rocessing, every kind of service jobs, the full scale, where primary agriculture is practiced (Naylor, 1997)            Immigrants have also enriched American communities by bringing characteristics of their instinctive cultures with them. However, many of the black Americans now celebrate both Christmas and other festivals drawn from African rituals. Hispanic Americans enjoy their backgrounds with street fairgrounds and other parties or events. There are many ethnic restaurants that proliferate in many American cities. For example, President John Kennedy, the grandson of Irish immigrants, commissioned up this intermingling of the old and the new when he titled America as a society of immigrants, which could hold any person irrespective of their culture, race, religion or political ideologies and everyone would began life fresh, on an equal basis. Therefore, this is the secret of United State as a nation of people with the fresh retention of old backgrounds who venture to walk around with new borderlines (Lind, 2010).            However, apart from the benefits which have been brought by the immigrants in the United States, challenges have been there more so to the government on how to counter the growing population. Services in all fields need to be increased and improved that is in organizational centers, health centers and educational centers because among the immigrants there are disabled people or people with special needs and they all expect assistance from the government. The issue of ethnicity is still there among various groups of people and this has led to gender difference and reduced sexual orientation. The uniformity that is beyond our internal extents there is outward effects of life practices, plus the choices we decide in our lives also affect our chances, circumstances, and elevations and since these controls, outward extents of religion, maternal prominence, and presence may influence others to create conventions about the immigrants (Naylor 1999 ).            Therefore, diversity need to be fostered in all terms of climate of acceptance and cultural pluralism in the United States in the following ways. First, Asian, Hispanic, black, and American Indian kids require the same basic skills that we have low priorities that white children require. This is a recognizable point, but it is most forgotten idea when the subject of multiethnic education is raised. Second, they need a broad considerate of our form of government and its organizations because we live in a country in which we enjoy countless freedom, but we also live in a country in which people are extremely unconcerned. Third, we must teach our children the history of this United States and there are many sources where we can get that history. Finally, all American kids need a well understanding of the world in which we live, and this includes something of the history of other nations. They need a foundation in geography, which, if shown we ll, will also teach them why nations advanced as they did. Rivers, terrain and climate are all important to the improvement of culture and should be understood well (Naylor, 1997).            The ways in which media perpetuate stereotyping and prejudice are relatively few. Erratically, there are studies within fields of journalism and mass communication that concentrate on stereotype and prejudice decline. One of the way is applying an audience-based tactic that openly teaches audiences how to be critical media consume while the other method is using message based method which enables the participants with all stereotypical news narratives that explain the existing cultural practices about various racial groups. The results of these two media-based methods on the accessibility of unfriendly and compassionate racial typecasts are considered to be having a great change. Finally every individual need to construct up prejudice like in other states such as Germany, china and Japan to improve our entrepreneurship. Gangs Introduction I. -A Los Angeles family takes a wrong turn into gang territory and is fired upon. A 3-year-old is killed and her 2-year-old brother wounded. -A Chinese immigrant in Brooklyn is kidnapped by a Chinatown gang which demands ransom payments from her family. She is murdered when the family fails to pay. -Two FBI agents and a police sergeant are murdered inside the Washington, D.C. police headquarters by a gang member. -A Pittsburgh police sergeant walking home with his daughter is killed with his own gun after he stops and confronts a gang spraying graffiti on a street. II. Resolved : that the Federal Government should pass laws to prevent the development gang related youth violence. Definitions- 1. Development: as defined in Websters Dictionary is â€Å"to make more elaborate; to enlarge†2. Gang: as defined in Websters is â€Å"A group of persons who are organized and work together or socialize regularly; a group of adolescent hoodlums or criminals; gang up on; to attack as a group.†3. Violence: as defined in Websters is â€Å"Physical force or activity used to cause harm, damage or abuse†4. Youth: as defined in Websters is â€Å"The appearance or state of appearing young; the time of life when one is not considered a adult; a young person†III. Our current juvenile justice system is no longer adequate for today's hardened young gang members. Demographics indicated this problem is not going away. In fact, only will get worse. This is a serious problem that can not be left unchecked. If this is not addressed it will only lead to the decay of our society. We must take action to combat gangs in a new way. Vice President Albert Gore recently told the White House press corps, "Gangs have been a major cause of the growth in violent crime in the past decade." He cited a Treasury Department report that found the presence of rival gangs, the Bloods and the Crips, in 35 states and 58 cities across the country. At the same press conference, Attorney General Janet Reno cited the impact of disabling one gang in New Haven, Connecticut. Eighteen members of the "Jungleboy" street gang were put in jail, and, according to Reno, New Haven's murder rate fell by one-third in 1993. I. Outline of Need Arguments A. Problem: Many highly rated experts warn of the impending youth crime crisis. Youth violent crime has been... ...where gangs dominate life and rain violent crime. Many of these children join gangs to find purpose, security, and self-esteem. The gang culture gives them a sense of belonging and remakes their value system. Partying, fighting, and vicious gang loyalty become their primary values, thus pushing aside virtues that favor family life. This is a vicious cycle and it must be broken. Given that youth gangs account for a disproportionate share of youth violence, their potential for contributing to a future crime wave is enormous. A recent decline in violent crime appears to be more a result of fewer teenagers than better law enforcement. When the current bumper crop of elementary-age children become adolescents, the violent crime rate is likely to explode. Supersize Me
As a person who spends a lot of time online watching Youth videos or just browsing, I've noticed a lot Of advertisements and some of them really stood out to me. I recall McDonald's having multiple advertisements before the start of the Youth telling you about their â€Å"all natural 100% Canadian Beef'. Having this before a video encourages the viewer to counting to watch the ad in order to see the video that you actually want to see. Another way McDonald's markets their foods is just by pictures with cleaver slogans or â€Å"good deals†on it.Pictures of hamburger that take ours to prepare and â€Å"make†and even longer to Photos frequently appears in magazines and billboards are all part of marketing tactics. The huge blown up pictures of fries found in the subway stations and on the giant screens at Tarantula square are all there to convince you to go to McDonald's and spend money. Even something simple as having the golden arches appear in a movie increase the sa les of McDonald's. 2) How does McDonald's specifically target children?As a child, remember begging my parents to take me to a specific McDonald's which was 20 minuets away from our house because there was a lay place there. The colorful tunnel/jungle gym set draws in children of all ages to come in and purchase something just so they could go down the slide. Building these play places with the giant signs are clearly targeting children convincing them to come in and buy something. The happy meal with the collectible toys, the colorful packaging and the cartoons are some of the other ways children are drawn in.As shown in the video, children could easily identify the McDonald's Clown with ease while some struggled to identify George Washington. This is mainly due to the fact that through arresting techniques and advertising through television, the McDonald's clown has become one of the most well known characters in the child's mind. 3) What makes this movie persuasive? Unlike some O f the other documentaries out there that only point out the negative aspects of fast food, this particular video isn't one faced and it tell us both sides of the situation.It is a well known fact that fast food is very unhealthy and this documentary just reinforced this point finally giving everyone physical evidence all set out telling you what the effects about. This commentary showed us regular updates from the doctors telling us the actual numbers has been gaining allowing us to have a very specific comparison. However, Morgan has mentioned many times that he did enjoy some of the meals at McDonald's and he did say that they taste good. He admitted that he got addicted to eating McDonald's and it physically made him feel better.No matter how much you look at the negative effects, many of us will still go to McDonald's just because it tastes â€Å"good†. Overall I think this documentary gave me personally an insight to the scary effects McDonald's on your body even though it tastes good. 4) In what ways do we need to be critical of the movie and its message? Even though this movie shows us the effects of the 30 day diet, we have to carefully consider the regulations and rules that specify what is allowed in the diet and what isn't.It is understandable that the producers of the film want to raise awareness towards the deadly effects McDonald's Can have on someone. However, feel that the outlines of the diet were bias towards a more negative result. For example, during the 30 days, Morgan was only allowed to eat what was on the McDonald's menu and he was to consume 3 squares a day like a â€Å"typical American†. However if you think about this thoroughly, whenever you go to McDonald's, do you order something different every time?Something else to consider is the fact that since your getting fast food in the first place, how you will have the time to get 3 squares at McDonald's. I know that there are some people out there who do consume everythin g at McDonald's on a daily basis. And also know that the filmmakers needed to emphasis the effects of McDonald's but to a normal person, the rules of the diet were exaggerated. Another reason why the message and result of the film may have been manipulated is the locations where he ordered McDonald's from.Throughout the film, he was asked to supervise the meal 5 times in Taxes. The movie also has him go California, New York and many other locations all over the United States. Because of this, the results of the diet come from a variety of places. In my option, if he were to have filmed this in the skinniest states in America rather than the fattest, he may have had less supervises and maybe even healthier â€Å"local specialties†. 5) Does this film reflect Canadians? Even though this film was created in the United States, I think this does reflect Canadians to some degree.Canada has considerably less McDonald's and fast food restaurants than the United States. Because of this , some may think that Canadians are a lot healthier than the Americans. However mainly due to the media and other influences, Canada has also adopted some of America's bad food habits and our diets have also been getting progressively unhealthier. Personally, I think that Canadians in general have more information displayed in the stores allowing people to have access to that information. (on the walls and on the sides of the boxes).I also noticed that in Canadian McDonald's promotes the healthier options more than the unhealthier options. Other than that, Canadian McDonald's can be just as unhealthy as American McDonald's and its up to the consumer to choose. 6) How did McDonald's change after the movie Even though McDonald's denies that the movie influenced any of the company's actions, McDonald's did change a few things after the movie was created. Possible one of the most important changes they made was to take out the supervise option in their menu.
